The Local Overnight Cell
Beneath the cross on the monument above and entered by a door in the rear is a holding cell for the local scoundrels of their day in Winsford. Built in 1830 prisoners were held overnight untill the morning where the local magistrates dealt out swift justice at courts held in the George and Dragon public house. Picture below...given the severity of punishments of the day I wonder how many had a final ale in the old pub....

Colorado Days

Talking to Albert on the Kodak SLR forum over at dpreview got me all nostalgic thinking about my wilder more adventurous days. I managed to find a couple of snaps from my time in Colorado in '88 quite quickly....I'll have to dig for the others. Pics above are low rez scans of prints hence the low quality....Sunday, February 17, 2008

Pic of the Day - "The Little Castle by Louis Dobson"
Its not often I go "wow" anymore when I see I shot I like...I normally get of my butt and try and do my own rendition....a similar shot but with my own take on it. Louis Dobson, a regular to the boys and girls over at the the Olympus SLR forum at dpreview, is well known for his works from Portugal..mainly seascapes. Louis has his own unique style, one I've not always agreed with, but his popularity and talent as a photographer is undisputed. Recently however Louis posted the shot above and I simply went "wow"...now this is a shot I'd wished I'd taken myself and one of the few I'd have in my collection that wasn't mine.Enough said?

Pic of the Day - "The Old High Street"
I actually took this shot yesterday but only got round to processing it today...its my blog it counts:-) Like many northern towns our little town has had its share of hardship and some areas still await redevelopement like these buildings in the Old High Street. Like ghosts of the past to remind us of our recent history....

New York Revisited
Over the last few weeks I've been steadily working through the archives revisiting old files and seeing whats lurking there forgotten. Today I happened upon the New York archive and found a goodly number of shots that have for one reason or another been passed over in the course of several visits across the pond. Anyway here's a selection of unseen work...lol even to me.

Just a couple of shots of two very imortant local establishments, the corner shop and the local ale house. These shots both taken with the 40D show the matter of fact way it can capture images like this handheld with ease.
